June 30, 2025 - – Chonburi, Thailand — SVOLT Thailand Plant, a joint-venture plant between SVOLT Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Thailand Banpu Public Company Limited, celebrated the rollout of its 10,000th EV battery pack, marking a key milestone in SVOLT’s Southeast Asia strategy. The milestone moment was witnessed on site by Chen Lei, General Manager of SVOLT Thailand Base, and Deputy General Manager Zhang Jianxin, along with Banpu NEXT CEO Smittipon Srethapramote and Senior Vice President Suwit representing the JV partner. Li Guangyu, Vice President of GWM ASEAN, joined as a key customer representative to witness the exciting moment.

As SVOLT’s flagship overseas joint venture, the Thailand plant is equipped with two CTP & LCTP/HEV production lines and integrated eight digital systems including WMS intelligent logistics. With an impressive 99.9% production yield rate, the plant features 50% automation rate in quality control, incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as online OCV testing, plasma cleaning, CCD deviation correction, and pre-/post-welding CCD visual inspections. These technologies significantly reduce cell defect rates compared to industry norms. Meanwhile, the plant also employs a comprehensive MES system enabling full-process quality traceability from raw materials to finished products. Since its launch, the plant has seen a sharp reduction in raw material inventory turnover time.

“The 10,000th EV battery pack offline is a major milestone in our strategic expansion across Southeast Asia,” said Chen Lei, General Manager of SVOLT Thailand. “With stable mass production, we’re accelerating the buildout of energy storage assembly lines and preparing to expand into lightweight mobility and energy storage solutions tailored to the Southeast Asian market. Our goal is to offer full lifecycle services for customers.” Chen also added, “the plant will foster the collaborations with Thai universities to advance local R&D capabilities and train new energy talents. The plant also aims to pilot integrated solar-storage-charging projects with local partners, fostering a closed-loop and sustainable energy ecosystem. Looking ahead, we will further explore collaboration opportunities to expand our EV battery and battery energy storage system (BESS) solutions across the Asia Pacific, supporting local demand and reinforcing the regional supply chain.”

Banpu NEXT CEO Smittipon Srethapramote remarked: “We’re proud to partner with SVOLT to establish a leading battery manufacturing base in Thailand. This collaboration brings together Banpu’s local market strength and SVOLT’s technical expertise in clean energy. With the adoption of cutting-edge short-blade cell technology and intelligent manufacturing systems, our joint venture has gained clear advantages in quality and operational efficiency—injecting innovative momentum into Thailand’s NEV industry.”

SVOLT’s battery packs are now powering some of Thailand’s popular NEV models such as the GWM ORA 03, Haval H6 PHEV, and Tank 300 HEV. This achievement reflects not only the strategic success of Thai government’s EV 3.0 policy incentives, but also the outstanding execution of SVOLT’s local team. Thai employees have worked hand-in-hand with SVOLT’s Chinese technical experts to bring SVOLT’s global standards to life with efficiency and precision.

Since breaking ground, the joint venture has moved at remarkable speed. Its battery packs have successfully obtained TISI certification and benefit from favorable tax policies under the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) initiative. Strategically located near Laem Chabang Port, the plant offers robust logistical advantages, serving as a gateway to the wider Southeast Asian market. Aligned with SVOLT’s long-term Asia-Pacific strategy, the Thailand plant is steadily building deeper local manufacturing capabilities. What began as a PACK assembly operation is evolving toward localized production of energy storage systems and battery cells, laying the foundation for a more resilient and integrated regional supply chain.
